The Sacrament of Holy Anointing with Oil

The Sacrament of Anointing with Oil is one of the Church’s sacraments that enables all people to encounter God as Savior at every stage of their lives, helping them to realize within themselves the perfection of the image of the only-begotten Son of God. For a person who becomes a child of God through Baptism remains called to follow the Master and abide with Him at every moment of life—in childhood and old age, in joy and sorrow, in health and when burdened by cares or exhausted by illness. In this context, the Church administers the Sacrament of Holy Oil to the faithful as a sign of the presence of the living and life-giving God among His people, who await His aid and mercy; it applies to any illness, however severe, and is always celebrated in the hope of healing.
